It was nice getting to know you a little finally. Happy Holidays!

Zsuzsanna CarlsonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-13297800472471705322010-12-16T20:11:12.319-05:002010-12-16T20:11:12.319-05:00Thanks everyone. It was almost scary and I didn;t know what to make of it. But, all things must come to an end. Sophie- I was consciously looking forward to seeing you at Bearwallow. I need a boost and you did it. I was sorry to fall off the pace but am glad I still got the PR. Maybe if I can keep running with my HS kids AND manage to get the long runs, I just might be able to have a few more good races. Actually am conjuring up an adventure in the mix as well. :)Rebekah Trittipoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14317015166448407967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-30089403374975775302010-12-16T19:47:12.525-05:002010-12-16T19:47:12.525-05:00Loved this. And I loved watching this race unfold, and knowing--- FEELING---what you were feeling because we have been there, together, before. 2007 was my year to hold you off on that last downhill, and 2010 was yours. Kerry is always in the mix, and we make each other stronger, better, faster. So proud of you, and of Rick! And, yes, as Adam wrote, "anything worthwhile is going to be difficult." I am grateful to be part of the Hellgate tradition.Sophie Speidelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04898497608573807716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-48179900187554431142010-12-16T15:46:03.377-05:002010-12-16T15:46:03.377-05:00Thank you Adam. It put a little pep in my step and I know we pushed each other to go beyond what we would have accomplished alone. You are correct though, nothing worth having is ever easy, but yet the reward is so great.Rick Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00067293157750460416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-53967084586688752882010-12-16T15:28:48.537-05:002010-12-16T15:28:48.537-05:00Congratulations Rebekah (and Rick)on an awesome ra...Congratulations Rebekah (and Rick)on an awesome race! In those early miles, you looked like you were just out for a stroll around the block. I hated to see things get tougher for you, but "anything worthwhile is going to be difficult." I think you two had a meaningful time out there and that is worth much. Congrats and I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!
- AdamCassedayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06903493546022429763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-77001430804183377292010-12-16T12:36:48.164-05:002010-12-16T12:36:48.164-05:00Yes he did. The second Saturday in December has become a tradition amoung a close group of us. You started this tradition eight years ago and I six years ago. Somehow I know where we will be in 2011 at this time. I too have wondered who in their right mind would have named a parking lot "Hellgate", but then it is probably named after the creek nearby, but then the same thing is said of naming the creek. Maybe someone knew that a man by the name of Horton would come along one day to start a legendary foot race that starts at 12:01am on the 2nd Saturday in December. The name Hellgate is certainly fitting of what we all go through. We spent a good many hours out there together trompsing through the woods. We both had one goal and that was to finish this beast and in the process do the best that we could. We accomplished that goal by working together. Somehow when one was down, the other was up and we kept encouraging each other. Not always by words, but through a look or a pat on the back as we trudged up a mountain. We helped each other bring out their best and we were both rewarded for it. The devil LOST!Rick Grayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00067293157750460416noreply@blogger.com
