I LOVE the idea of glorious racing days ahead but not sure if I can commit- especially when my grandma role has become so important. There are only so many hours in a day. (1) I Run Far has an "age old runner" series by Liza Howard that may be of interest. It is listed under "columns". I have enjoyed reading those interviews given my older age. (2) What about an experienced coach for a short time to change things up - particularly someone with knowledge of training 60+ yr old women (Jason Koop's group might be a place to look). (3) Since the first third of the race went so well for you, could you consider shorter races to get back in the groove?

I recall hearing a Billy Yang podcast (I think) with Ann Trason. She spoke about how she shifted her running as a result of age/health. You have always been an inspiration to me and I hope you can continue finding joy in the effort.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-90419326824036009912021-09-26T17:20:09.381-04:002021-09-26T17:20:09.381-04:00I know you don't want to compare yourself with...I know you don't want to compare yourself with others, Becky, but I hope you're not beating yourself up for not finishing. I had a baby 3.5 years ago at the ripe ol' age of 42. I could not have imagined how much my life would change... how much I would learn, and how difficult raising a child actually is. Your post sums it up all so well.

I cannot explain how comforting it is to once again come across your blog. I've noticed that getting older and having a child has caused me to look back upon my life and relive things, and think about things. It is bittersweet and also empowering.

As I struggle with trying to get this 45 year old post baby back into shape, I am still thankful for all that it can accomplish. Who knew life would be so difficult and so fulfilling all at once?

There is part of me that misses the days of going out on a 20 mile running run with few worries, but then again, I am quite sure I had plenty of worries that I simply cannot recall at this moment. I wouldn't trade where I am now for anything, but it is lovely to remember. Across the years, I still remember your quote in your book about being in a perfect moment. It has fit so very many moments in my life and on so many seemingly ordinary runs that were anything but ordinary.

In any case, I wanted to say hello! And thank you!

Your sister in Christ,
Cassieultracassiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11969916179907889539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7411028237459709692.post-38544249199562812372021-03-24T16:43:04.352-04:002021-03-24T16:43:04.352-04:00Thank you Kim.
